Kano, Nigeria – August 10, 2025
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has issued a strong warning to public officials, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to discipline, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption and drug-related offenses.

This comes in during the state executive Council meeting at Kano Government House, in the wake of the resignation of the state Commissioner for Transport, Ibrahim Namadi, who was recently implicated in a controversial bail saga involving a suspected drug dealer.
In a statement released by the Governor’s spokesperson, Alhaji Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Governor Yusuf emphasized that his administration will not condone any act that undermines public trust or compromises the integrity of government institutions.
“The government of Kano State remains firmly committed to upholding the highest standards of accountability. Public office is a position of trust, and anyone found wanting will face the full consequences, regardless of their position,” the statement read.
Governor Yusuf further stressed the need for collective effort in combating drug abuse, trafficking, and all forms of social vices, which he described as serious threats to the wellbeing and future of the youth.
“Our fight against drugs and social vices is non-negotiable. We must protect our youths and ensure a safe, responsible society. Any official aiding or abetting these harmful practices has no place in this administration,” the governor declared.
He called on all government officials to recommit themselves to the values of public service and serve as role models to the people of Kano State.
Governor Yusuf’s strong stance comes at a critical time as the government intensifies efforts to rid the state of drugs, crime, and corruption, while promoting youth empowerment and societal reform.
